First BMW i3 for Shared E-Fleet

23 January 2014 in Stuttgart

The Fraunhofer IAO received the first BMW i3 for the Shared E-Fleet project on 23 January at the BMW dealership in Stuttgart. A total of eight electric vehicles by the German car producer will be used in the pilot scheme of the research project.

Beginning in June 2014, the solutions for the shared use of electric vehicle fleets, which have been developed in the last year, will be thoroughly tested in a real-life environment. The companies at two technology parks, STEP in Stuttgart and MTZ in Munich, will share fleets of the BMW i3 cars, which are the first mass-produced carbon fiber cars and among the most innovative electric vehicles.
